Sava Lake on Ada Ciganlija with about 6 km of beaches is the largest open-air beach in the Republic of Serbia. During the summer bathing season this beach reaches 150,000 visitors per day. The beaches of the Sava Lake are fully arranged and equipped with the necessary infrastructural facilities, which, as a whole, makes them one of the largest and most beautiful bathing places on artificial lakes in the whole of Europe. The water quality of the Sava Lake is at an extremely high level, as evidenced by the results of measurements of the City Institute of Public Health from Belgrade, whose 99.8% of samples over the past 5 years showed that the water quality of the lake is within I and II category of surface waters. These categories mean that regarding quality, the water can be used for drinking (with prior treatment by filtration and disinfection), bathing and recreation, irrigation and industrial use.
As a Blue Flag certified beach, Ada Ciganlija meets rigorous annual standards across water quality, environmental management, facilities, and safety — making it one of the recognised bathing destinations in Serbia.
