"Plakes beach is located on the northeastern part of Volos bay and next to Anavros beach, 1.5 km from the centre of Volos."

Above the Plakes beach is the Goritsa hill, a favourite hill for hiking and admiring the view. At the foot of the hill and beside the Plakes beach is the caved church of Panagia Trypa-Goritsa, carved into a rock. Within walking distance is the beautiful coastal seaside of Anavros Park, the Hospital of Volos and next to it the church of the Holy Trinity. Naturally, as Plakes beach is so close to the city of Volos the tourist can easily and quickly use all the services provided by a modern city and visit all its sights and museums.
